Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the second Thursday of each month except in July and August

2020 Meetings Suspended Until Further Notice

The regular monthly meetings of the SEMMC will be suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep the membership updated the best that we can.

The SEMMC Annual Auction scheduled for March 21, 2020 was canceled and we are in the process of looking into options to have the auction in the fall or perhaps putting it off until the spring of 2021.


The club gave two $1000 scholarships in 2019.

SEMMC has given a scholarship award to the Department of Geological Science at Bridgewater University.

Kayleigh MacDonald of Middleboro, MA received the award.

This award is open to Juniors, Seniors or Graduate students who are pursuing study in mineralogy, geology or related sciences. The scholarship is based on both merit and need.

2018 “Best Find of the Year” Competition Results  

The January SEMMC mineral competition for best finds of the 2018 collecting season was moderately competitive with multiple entries in most categories.

Awards were given for the winning minerals in the following categories:

Outside of New England - Jim Bradley - Turgite; Georgia (The Ed Norton Award)

Outside of the United States - Cheryle Bradley - Fluorapatite; Ontario, Canada

Fossil - Micki Cavanagh - Horn Coral; NY

Ugliest - Jim Bradley- Anthracite; Pennsylvania

Lapidary - Micki Cavanagh- Wire wrapped pendent

Best Find of the Year - Jim Bradley - Almandine Garnet; ME

Field Trip Attendance Award - John Walsh and Jim Bradley (tied)

The new Southeastern Massachusetts Mineral Club patches are now available to purchase.
They are 3" round and beautiful multi-colored.
It's an iron-on patch and sells for $ 3.00 per patch.
